Course Description

This course identifies the competence required to apply quality assurance techniques to all operations involving plant, tooling, equipment or systems required for the design, development and production of motor vehicles

Interpret and apply quality standards

1. Quality standards are interpreted and applied to individual and team work in accordance with company procedures.
2. Process improvement tools are used either individually or in a team to identify and solve design, development and production quality problems.

Monitor and report on quality

1. Quality of all received, in-work and finished materials and products is checked and appropriate action taken in accordance with quality management strategies.
2. Change in quality of performance is monitored using quality improvement tools and feedback data in accordance with company procedures.
3. Further action to improve quality is recommended, where required, using standard operating procedures either individually or in a team.

Implement quality improvement

1. Analytical tools are used to evaluate principal causes of process variation and the success of project improvement strategies in accordance with company procedures.
2. The outcomes of the evaluation of principal causes of process variation are used in a continuous cycle of quality improvement in accordance with company procedures.

Overview of Assessment

A series of tasks to introduce the concept of Quality Assurance (as different but related to Quality Control) and apply appropriate quality assurance to the processes used in the graphic pre-press industry.
• Task 1 - Investigate and Define what is Quality Assurance
• Task 2 - Prepare a ’checklist’ of guidelines for clients
• Task 3 - A report carefully detailing processes and software used for each step in Quality Assurance for pre-press
• Investigate ISO standards and make a list of those ISO standards used in the processes you have identified
• Task 5 / Final Major Project - Quality Assurance for all processes in a complete production Job
