Course Description

This unit applies to individuals in an entry level position in the media planning, media buying, account or advertising management roles within an advertising team or media organisation, who monitor the advertising production process.

1.1.Confirm printing, print production, electronic production specifications, schedule, budget, supplier/s and resource requirements for pre-production activities

1.2.Monitor pre-production activities against scheduling and budgetary requirements and report likely overruns for action and approval in accordance with organisational policies and procedures

1.3.Estimate the effect of a delay in pre-production and make recommendations to re-schedule activities to meet the pre-production schedule in accordance with organisational policies and procedures

2.1.Confirm specifications, production schedule, budget, supplier/s and resource requirements

2.2.Monitor progress against production schedule and identify likely variations in accordance with organisational policies and procedures

2.3.Gain approvals from relevant persons for schedule variations to production budget allocations in accordance with organisational policies and procedures if required

3.1.Confirm specifications, schedule, budget, supplier/s and resource requirements for post-production activities

Overview of Assessment

Students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of a particular competency to be deemed competent. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over a range of assessment tasks.

Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including assignments, journals, presentation and written or test. Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met.

You are required to complete 3 tasksYou must successfully complete all 3 tasks to be deemed competent in this unit.

Assessment Task 1 Research & Print machine Presentation (Due in class Week 3 & 4)

Working in groups, students are required to research a pre-determined area of printing machines types and its print requirements prior to it being placed on the press. Additionally, students are to present their finding in a group oral Presentation. This assessment task will comprise of a formal report and also a PowerPoint presentation.

 

 

Assessment Task 2 Requirements Report (Due in class Week 11)

Part A- Students are to Individually complete research on sourcing paper stock, budget, pre press requirements, gant chart, and two printing techniques that could be used to print Part B.

Part B- Practical task: Students are to design a poster for the London Olympic games using the Advertising catch Phrase: ‘ It’s not what you win, but how you conquer it’.

Assessment Task 3 Research & Production of a radio ad,  online banner and TV ad.

 (Due in class Week 14)

Working in groups, students are required to research and produce a radio ad along with a scheduling chart, costs of pre production, production and post production.

Research of a TV ad and online banner to accompany the radio ad is also required.

 

More detailed assessment sheets for each assessment task will be disseminated throughout course delivery.
