Course Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to participate in workplace occupational health and safety (OHS) processes to protect workers own health and safety and that of others. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of endorsement.

Overview of Assessment
Critical aspects of assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit are:
Accurately following all relevant safety procedures
Identifying and reporting hazards to designated personnel
Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation.
Assessment Tasks
Assessment tasks in this course are either formative or summative.
Formative tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered an essential building blocks for the more substantial summative assessment tasks. Summative assessment tasks in this unit are graded.

To demonstrate competency in this course, you will need to complete each one of the following pieces of assessment to a satisfactory standard.
Formative Assessment
Research project.
You are required to produce an individual written research project answering 10 questions on relevant occupational health and safety legislation and procedures. This is due to be completed in Week 5.
Summative Assessment
Practical work.
This practical work involves all the teacher directed group activities/projects demonstrating your ability to work safely and participate in OH&S processes throughout all relevant competency units in the Certificate 4 of Audiovisual Technology during Semester 1 (Practical work). To be assessed and moderated by all relevant teachers in TAFE Week 17, Semester 1.

The major learning experience involves studio based exercises, demonstration and production. It is strongly advised that you attend all sessions in order to engage in the required learning activities, ensuring the maximum opportunity to gain the competency.
