Course Description

The unit applies to the preparation and production of components using table-based operations, working to defined procedures and methods.

You will develop skills and knowledge as it relates to table-based operations.  This applies to various aspects of footwear production processes, including preparation for cutting, preparation of uppers, preparation for assembly and making of shoes and components.

3.1 Table-based operations , appropriate to production task, are performed to quality specifications.

On successful completion of this course you will have developed and applied the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate competency in the above elements.


Details of Learning Activities

Integrated learning consisting of theory and practical components will be carried out in practical workshops for the skills and knowledge required in the preparation and production of components using table-based operations while producing shoes.


Teaching Schedule

Practical workshops for Perform Table based Operations will be conducted in conjunction with other practical based learning. Workshops will including demonstration of techniques and students will be required to demonstrate their practical table based operations activities for each pair of shoes produced for assessment.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment is ongoing throughout the semester and will consist of both theory and practical based exercises, predominantly in class but some out of class research and information formatting is required as well. Feedback will be provided throughout the semester on all assessment tasks.

All assessment tasks must be completed before competency can be achieved. Tasks that have not be authenticated in class as the student’s own work will not be considered for assessment. Regular attendance is encouraged.

Assessment Tasks

Student will demonstrate and answer relevant questions regarding the knowledge and skills required for Table Based Operations to a competent standard.
Student will submit for assessment a minimum of 2 pairs of shoes. Shoes to be produced to a required to be to an acceptable industry standard. Included in the production of these shoes, students will perform table based operations using safe & efficient methods.
