Course Description

This unit describes the knowledge and skills required to support a person with a disability who is ageing. The unit covers identifying current and future needs, supporting the rights and interests of the person, independent thinking and action and understanding and supporting a person with a disability who has dementia.

Overview of Assessment

A workplace assessment appointment will be undertaken to allow students to present and discuss workplace evidence: Based on the individual student’s knowledge, skills and experience: an individual learning plan will be negotiated and developed. Students may be offered a number of assessment tasks and learning strategies such as workshop attendance, case studies, research project work and workplace activities and support to meet their assessment needs for this course (unit of competency).
