This course is delivered and assessed in conjunction GRAP5337 Graphic design techniques and VART6279 Realise a creative project.
Course Description
In this unit you will develop the skills and knowledge required to use typography techniques in design work. It includes a general knowledge of typography and its application to different design briefs.

You will require a personal storage device and equipment and materials as outlined in the kit list.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment is on-going throughout the course. Assessment will incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of knowledge and skills and will include tasks and projects.
Assessment tasks are:
Type project 1A - Magazine 50%
Type project 2A - Music event branding 50%
An assessment charter summarises your responsibilities as an RMIT student as well as those of your teachers.
Assessment Tasks
Tasks in this course are either formative or summative. Feedback throughout the course may be written, verbal or a combination of both.
Formative tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered essential
building blocks for the more substantial summative assessment tasks and you should engage in all formative tasks.
This course has 2 x projects and 2 x GD tasks, which must be completed/submitted.
You are required to demonstrate all learning outcomes to a satisfactory standard.
2 x tasks Task 1GD: Branding research (due in Week 11)
Task 2GD: Concept ideation (due in Week 13)
2 x projects Project 1 - PART B - The design of cover graphics and other visual content and design for the magazine/publication (due in Week 9)
Project 2 - PART B - The branding concept and visual components for a music event and associated merchandise (due in Week 17)
At the completion of the course, grading will be offered in addition to, and after, competency based assessment.
