Course Description

To provide the learner with the knowledge to apply safety principles on medium rise and wide span building sites.

Learning Outcomes

This course will provide the learner to develop knowledge & skills and be able to:
• Apply the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Construction Safety Act to medium rise and wide span building sites.
• Organise OH&S Act first aid requirements.
• Implement OH&S Safety Committee procedures.
• Implement OH&S and Construction Safety Acts legislation and requirements in regard to fire safety.
• Organise the site safety planning requirements of the OH&S Act and Construction Safety Act.
• Organise the work area requirements of the OH&S Act and Construction Safety Act.
• Implement accident reporting and prevention procedures.
• Demonstrate the knowledge of the statistics relating to OH&S issues.
• Apply OH&S safety requirements for plant and equipment.
• Deal with Government Departments and organise mandatory inspections.
