Course Description

In this course students apply knowledge of materials and methods in regard to the production of paintings.  Issues currently pertaining to painting are discussed and expanded upon.  Students are expected to develop informed critical and conceptual viewpoints.  This course furthers the development of painting techniques and applications. Emphasis is placed on the importance research and rigorous experiment.

Learning Outcomes


1. Produce a series of paintings using a range of techniques and materials.
2. Demonstrate the use of a personal philosophy in the production of art works.
3. Develop folio proposal incorporating a strong conceptual framework.

Studio based practice in response to a prescribed project. Additional self initiated work. Tutorials.
