Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to produce manual and computer finished art from a designer’s brief or rough on time within budget.

Learning Outcomes

1. Analyse a written or oral brief to develop finished art
2. Research relevant background information
3. Experiment with drawing equipment, grounds and media to produce camera read/print ready artwork
4. Produce manual finished art ready for print
5. Produce a computer generated finished art ready for print
6. Prepare a workplan schedule and budget for a project
7. Use computer software packages to produce camera ready artwork appropriate to a brief


Overview of Assessment

The assessment will be as follows:
- Exercises
- Practical projects

Students will be tutored with a verbal and/or written evaluation of their progress for each submission.
A final graded assessment will be given at the end of the course when students will submit all completed work.

This course is co-assessed with MANU 5733 Produce a typographic image, MANU 5734 Compose & evaluate typography, MANU 5735 Output images to film and paper, SOSK 5155 Develop self as a designer.
