Course Description


In this course you will gain the skills, attitude and knowledge to enable you to take responsibility for single and multi-camera technical direction, and the skills to select, maintain, interface and align television equipment so as to optimise the technical quality of studio and single camera television productions in the audio visual industry.

Skills and knowledge you will develop include understanding of:
_ Single-camera video equipment selection & operation
_ Multi-camera video equipment selection & operation
_ Fault diagnosis techniques

Written Studio Equipment assignment: 30% of final course mark
Practical competence assessment: 30% of final course mark
Final closed book test: 40% of final course mark


Assessment Tasks

1. Written Studio Equipment assignment. 30% of final course mark. To complete this assignment you are required to choose an approved item of studio equipment and produce a set of instructions on how to use it.
2. Practical competence assessment. 30% of final course mark. To complete this assessment you are required to demonstrate to the teacher your competence of operating an agreed upon item of studio equipment.
3. Final closed book test. 40% of final course mark.
The test will cover:
−    Audio techniques for video
−    Camera set-up procedures
−    Digital Video tape operation & formats
−    Studio equipment setups
