Course Description
This unit covers setting standards for organisational documents and managing document design and production to meet the standards. Students will use a combination of software packages to design and implement business documentation. Software will include word processing, spreadsheets and databases. Students will examine key features of good design for business documents and gain skills in selecting appropriate software.

Learning Outcomes
Overview of Assessment
The student must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of a particular competency to be deemed competent. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over a range of assessment tasks.
Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including class exercises/observation, theory tests, project/assignment and practical tests. Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met
Class time is spent practicing the design and development of a range of business documents and at the same time extending the student’s knowledge of software functions and document design principles. A short lecture will provide students with the concepts required to gain the underpinning skills and knowledge. Students will be required to practice underpinning practical skills outside of class time (eg keyboarding and proofreading). This course will provide participants with the techniques and skills in proofreading and editing to produce well designed business documents.
