Course Description

This Unit of Competency covers using computers, associated devices and office technology to achieve outcomes required in the workplace. The office technology used will include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) and RMIT’s internet and email applications


Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities

Basic knowledge of MS Windows, email applications and the internet.

Overview of Assessment

Students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of a particular competency to be deemed competent. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner including Recognition of Prior Learning and Current Competency.  Competency must be achieved in all computer applications studied. Assessment  of competency will incorporate class exercises and problem solving challenges.  Students will have the choice of attempting  graded assessments to  receive more than a Pass for this course. Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met.
