Course Description

This unit covers the skills required to rad and interpret codes, plans/specifications and to undertake the production of architectural working drawings of Class 2 to Class 9 complying with the Building code of Australia (BCA) for residential, commercial and industrial Type ‘C’ buildings.


Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities

This unit must be assessed after attainment of competency in ALL CORE units of the Certificate IV in Residential Drafting, except Produce Drawing Documentation for Private Residential Buildings.

Produce Commercial Working Drawing for Type C Building Projects

Elements:

Develop a set of working drawings for a Type “C” building project in accordance with BCA including relevant Stat Territory Appendix, other governing regulations and Australian Standards.

Draw building plans, details, se4ctions and three-dimensional sketches relating to main components of construction, finishes and specification notes to a standard suitable for building permit approval.

Read and interpret plans and specifications, structural engineering drawings, soil tests, steel fabrication, survey plans and levels plan for temporary structure and works.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment in this course is progressive and will require demonstrated competence in one or more of the following ways:

Practical projects, drawings and documentation, visual and oral presentations, written assignments, CAD modelling, digital presentations, visual recognition tests, written reports and studio based activities.

All assignments will have set due dates which must be adhered to. Late submission of work will carry a penalty but may be considered by prior arrangement if supported with a medical certificate or other appropriate documentation.
