Course Description
This unit is about developing skills needed to develop a data warehouse within an organization. It aims to help students identify the concept of data warehouse and when it is needed, with up-to-date conceptual and practical knowledge on recent developments in database technology, specifically data warehousing. It will also help students set up a transfer system that collects and cleans the data and design the storage structure to obtain the best query performance when handling hundreds of rows of data. The knowledge gained also includes understanding the requirements of the client, identifying target environment in relation to client requirements, validation of data model and feeding back the recommendations into modelling process.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over a range of assessment tasks.
Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including practical demonstrations, written tests and an examination. Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant standards are being met.
