Course Description
In this course students attain practical experience in a work placement situation, either in a small or large volume manufacturer.
This will enable learners to:
1. Communicate and interact effectively with individuals, work groups and supervisors and adapt to cultural differences in the workplace
2. Understand workplace procedures and reporting processes
3. Apply workplace health & safety policies in work operations
4. Interpret and carry out duties as requested
5. Give and receive information: through basic use of information technology, use of correct terms, interpreting of instructions (oral or written)
6. Foster active participation in the workplace
7. Develop team commitment and co-operation

Overview of Assessment
1. Complete a set period of work placement at a company within the clothing industry, complying with all necessary job demands
2. Report on the structure of the workplace including the manufacturing and distribution procedures. Identify the business strengths - what do they produce, who are their customers?
3. Keep a work journal during your placement outlining your work requirements during your placement.
Assessment Criteria:
PASS = attendance at workplace for nominal hours, submission of Host Report, Journal & Workplace Attendance Sheet
Result higher than a PASS = Workplacement Report plus above requirements
Assessment Tasks
1. Complete 45 hours of workplacement at a company within the clothing industry, complying with all necessary job demands.
2. Keep a work journal outlining daily work duties
3. Submit a “Host Report” & a “Time Sheet” verified by company
4. Report on the structure of the company including the manufacturing & distribution procedures.
To receive a result higher than a Pass student needs complete points 1, 2 & 3 above plus written report on Host company
