Course Description
This unit covers the skills and knowledge to lay up, make marker and cut work for sample designs where only a couple of garments would be cut out at a time, as required to test design or pattern or make final samples of garment.

Learning Outcomes
This course is integrated with LMTFD4016A Sew Design Prototypes and LMTFD4007A Conduct Quality assurance for Pattern and Garments, to meet customer specifications to form a cluster called ‘Production Prototypes.’
Students will learn a range of skills in a simulated work environment. Including the skills and knowledge to lay up, make markers and cutwork for sample designs. the work from this course will be used to further develop your skills in the aother two courses being taught as part of this cluster
Details of Learning Activities
In a simulated work environment students will learn the required skills and knowledge the:
1. Setting up a work area (as specified) and following safety procedures.
2. Creation of range a efficient markers for different fabric types.
3. Checking cutting orders and fabrics in preparation for cutting
4. Laying up simple lay plans for prototypes
5. Cutting prototypes according specified quality standards
6. Creation and storing scale markers
Teaching Schedule
Weeks 1-2: Garment 1
Analyse appropriate quality inspection procedures for cut work prior to commencement of sewing
Weeks 3-5: Garment 2
Conduct appropriate quality inspection procedures for cut work prior to commencement of sewing. Identify any faults and rectify as required
Weeks 6-8: Garment 3
Conduct appropriate quality inspection procedures for cut work prior to commencement of sewing. Identify any faults and rectify as required
Weeks 9-11: Garment 4
Analyse Cutting orders/Instruction.
Demonstrate appropriate Work station setup and safety; equipment; cutting requirements
Create appropriate lay-plan for garment
• Inspect for fabric efficiency, faults, fabric requirements
Cut prototype
• Carry out appropriate quality checks
• Work safely
Store completed patterns, cut–work and fabrics as appropriate. Discuss options in different situations.
Complete appropriate paperwork.
Weeks 12-15: Garment 5
Analyse Cutting orders/Instruction.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment is based on observation of class work and practical exercises with students demonstrating skills to cut a range of different garments, including the skill to:
• Use and maintain equipment in appropriate and safe manner.
• Mark out patterns as per industry process
• Conduct checks throughout process to ensure everything is correct
• Cut and bundle work as appropriate
• Complete all relevant paperwork related to the cutting of garment/s and file finished work and pattern as appropriate.

Observation of Cutting tasks and practical exercises undertaken by student in class.
