This unit covers the skills and knowledge to computing technology used in TCF manufacturing sectors

Learning Outcomes


This unit applies to identifying the type and source of information required, and using the technology to access, input and store information used in TCF manufacturing sectors.


Details of Learning Activities

• In this class you will make documents that relate to the fashion and textile industry. You may be using software such as: the Microsoft Office packages, Adobe Illustrator (for garment drawings) and Photoshop (mood/story boards) and presentation programs.
• You will be participating in discussions, problem solving, as well as using computer software.


Teaching Schedule

Weeks: 1 – 3
• Intro to course
• Class activities related to the use of email programs; internet browsers and the RMIT website and DLS
• Class activities related to the use of word processing (Microsoft Office suite)
Weeks: 4 – 7
• Class activities related to the use of spreadsheet software (Microsoft Office suite)
Weeks: 8 – 9
• Class activities related to the use of presentation software (including PowerPoint)
Weeks: 10 – 17
• Class activities related to the use of specialised CAD software (including Illustrator and Photoshop)
Weeks: 18
• Assessment/feedback
