Course Description

This course covers the skills and knowledge to weigh and check textile materials and products. It also covers the skills and knowledge associated with planning and organising non-routine testing within the enterprise.

Performance Criteria:

1.1 Fibre, yarns, other materials and products to be weighed are identified and samples are taken.
1.2 Appropriate weighing or measuring equipment is organised.
1.3 Calibration is checked as required.
2.1 Fibre, yarns, raw materials and products are weighed accurately.
2.2 Weighing is conducted according to materials handling and OHS practices.
2.3 Weights are correctly recorded and documented.
3.1 Yarns, raw materials and products are correctly checked for colour, blend and number if appropriate.
3.2 The weight of the fibres, yarns, raw materials and textile products is checked against production order.
4.1 Fibres, yarn, raw materials and product weight, colour and order details are checked against relevant documentation.
