Course Description

This unit covers the skills and knowledge to analyse the fit of a garment or toile on the individual body, making necessary adjustments and altering the pattern.


Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities

LMTCL3009B - Develop patterns from a block using basic patternmaking principles
AND
LMTFD4010B - Create pattern to meet design specifications applying advanced patternmaking principles

Learning Outcomes

On sucessful completion of this course the learner wil develop the required skils and knowledge to fitting a garment or toile on an individual and making size and fit alterations on the garment or toile; then transferring these alterations to the pattern. The learner will develop skills in communication to take and document measurements and pattern requirements. Planning and organising, problem solving and initiative and enterprise skills are required to determine fit and pattern requirements. Self management skills are required to ensure quality standards are met.

This course comprises both practical and theory components. You will be expected to attend and participate in class activities.

As well as class activities you will be required to undertake research and assessment practice outside of regular class times and participate in formal assessment tasks.
