Course Description

This unit specifies the outcomes required to lead and manage continuous improvement systems and processes. Particular emphasis is on the development of systems and the analysis of information to monitor and adjust performance strategies and to manage opportunities for further improvements.

Details of Learning Activities

Participant’s workbook and workshop
You will learn about the underpinning knowledge and theory in a workshop with other participants in the program. The workshop will follow the format outlined in the participant’s workbook. The workshop will include other learning activities such as PowerPoint presentations, lecture, group discussion, group exercises, case studies and questions.

Workplace tasks and project
You will use the workshop and workbook to complete the tasks in the workplace. This will include work you are already performing and a workplace project, and will give you the opportunity to practice and apply underpinning knowledge. You will be expected to refer to the workbook and to the prescribed text. The project will be agreed upon with the company.

Trainer-student sessions

Your work (including your workbook) will be reviewed in one-on-one sessions with the trainer. The trainer will offer guidance and further instruction on specific areas for further study.

Overview of Assessment

A person who demonstrates competence in this standard must be able to provide evidence that they are able to develop, monitor and adjust plans, processes and procedures to improve performance; they must also be able to support others to implement the continuous improvement system/processes and to be able to identify and manage opportunities for further improvement. Assessment will be done through submission of a portfolio indicated competency in work undertaken and application of theory to this work.


Assessment Tasks

You will be required to successfully complete the following assessment:
•workbook
•workplace tasks and project. A portfolio of evidence will be used to collect this information together in one place. Evidence includes workplace and personal documents, feedback from managers and peers, performance reviews and your reports.
