Course Description

This unit covers the installation or upgrading of equipment in television studios. The scope varies from installing or upgrading a single piece of equipment to installation of a whole studio or facility.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to install or upgrade facilities and/or equipment in broadcast environments including fixed and flyaway situations. Within the context of a three camera studio and a portable or flyaway OB (outside broadcast) rig you will learn to identify the components of the system, how they are interconnected, set them up for operation in a variety of situations and use test equipment to monitor the correct operation and transmission of the various signals. Students are expected to bring the capabilities developed in Vision mix Television productions and Operate Vision Systems as well as Team work and OH & S from the Certificate IV in Audiovisual Technology.
Students will develop complementary capabilities in the Units Shoot a wide range of television productions and Develop vision systems installation plans.


Overview of Assessment

Following flow diagrams and manuals install a piece of equipment into the broadcast system and as part of a team undertake an installation and upgrade while maintaining transmission.
