Course Description

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to develop artistic practice to produce a concept for a large scale or thematically connected sculpture/s through the exploration and application of a range of advanced techniques. Sculpture in this context may be one piece of sculpture or more than one sculptural piece.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment may incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of essential underpinning knowledge and skills and might include:

  • Direct observation of sculpture work in progress, including exploration of and experimentation with techniques 
  • Written and/or oral questioning and discussion to assess knowledge and understanding and your intentions and work outcome
  • Completion of an art journal and/or portfolio including personal reflection and feedback from relevant others.

The ability to develop a concept for large scale or thematically connected sculpture/s which:
  • demonstrates a command of advanced techniques and which are consistent with the conceptual vision
  • demonstrates knowledge of materials and tools and how they are used and extended in sculpture
  • demonstrate theoretical and conceptual maturity.
