Course Description
This course is aimed at achieving sufficient cultural competence to enable the enrolled nurse to work effectively and respectfully with clients from all cultures. This course is taught and assessed alongside HLTIR404D "Work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres St Islander clients and co-workers".

Lesson 2. Accept cultural diversity as a basis for effective workplace and professional relationship
• Discuss the resources and communication strategies to facilitate and ensure health care delivery in a cross cultural context, including workplace strategies and individual strategies, and the implementation of culturally appropriate practices in the professional setting
Lesson 3. Effective cross cultural communication
Discuss cross cultural communication and negotiation.
Define terms and concept relevant to cross cultural communication.
Lesson 4. Resolve cross cultural misunderstanding
Discuss strategies to eliminate bias & discrimination, including: cross cultural work teams, cross cultural employee representation on committees.
