Details of Learning Activities
In Class Activities will include:

Self-Directed Learning - Some activities will include a self-directed learning approach; self-directed learning refers to organised activities that students undertake independently, either as individuals or with other students that are supervised by a teacher. This may include workplace research, library assignments. Field trips and work placements.

Overview of Assessment
A person who demonstrates competency in this unit must be able to organise, analyse and communicate information.
Task 1 - Sources of Information
Students are to research materials using 3 different ways of gathering information and reflect on the most effective method.
Task 2 - Design Terminology
Using the Design Terminology glossary provided, source and complete 10 definitions for design terms. Source another 5 design words from industry journals and write a sentence using design terminology to describe their bedroom.
Task 3 - Client Profile
Choose from one of the 10 room images provided and write a client profile of the owners of the space using your powers of deduction.
Task 4 - Analysing Information
Students are to visit the RMIT Library iView - Improve your Research Skills and complete the tutorial - reflect on what you have learned.
Task 5 - Communication Information
Working in pairs, write a Short Report for an alternative, sustainable material from the Task 4 Client Profile image.
All weekly research and tasks to be uploaded onto group Blog for discussion with peers and teacher and for assessment
You will receive feedback with verbal and/or written evaluation of your progress within class time. The submitted projects will be assessed with written feedback as well as a quality indicator that relates to separate components of the project and the overall outcome. At the completion of the course, grading will be offered in addition to, and after, competency based assessment.

The major learning experience involves studio based exercises, demonstration and production. It is strongly advised that students attend all sessions in order to engage in the required learning activities, ensuring the maximum opportunity to gain the competency.

Work not seen in progress
If a student hands in any work that the teacher has never seen in class or discussed with the student prior to the submission, the teacher can refuse to assess the work on the basis of authentication issues.
