Course Description

In this unit you will develop the skills and knowledge required to produce a range of displays and product presentations. It involves applying visual display knowledge, safely maintaining and using a simple tool kit, and accessing and organising relevant materials and equipment.

Details of Learning Activities

Learning activities will include studio workshop demonstrations, site visits and practical exercises. Students will be required to do additional research outside of class hours.

For the Practice exercises in week 1

Students are expected to be resourcful when sourcing props and merchandise for thier displays and will be required to bring in props and merchandise for thier displays each week. The specific requirements for these displays will be discussed with each brief.


Overview of Assessment

Assessment is on-going throughout the course. Assessment will incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of knowledge and skills.
Assessment tasks are:
1 x folio 
1 x pop-up shop 

Please note: All Assessment tasks need to be completed before competency is achieved. A number of tasks will be formative to show your progress and development of skills and knowledge throughout the semester. The final task will be summative to provide a level of performance in addition to your competency.

Assessment Tasks

 

Assessment will be ongoing throughout the semester. Assessment will incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of skills and knowledge.

Students will be assessed on practical exercises, a report. some exercises will be formative along with exercises that will be summative.

 Please note: All Assessment tasks need to be completed before competency is achieved,  a number of tasks will be formative to show your progress and development of skills and knowledge throughout the semester this will also be supported by direct feedback from the teacher. All displays must be completed in class while a teacher is present.

.Brief 14 -  Black & White Store, Due week 12  and Brief 5 - Folio, Due week 16, will be summative to provide a level of performance in addition to your competency.

Competency based assessment

You will receive feedback with verbal and/or written evaluation of your progress within class time.

The submitted projects will be assessed with written feedback as well as a quality indicator that relates to separate components of the project and the overall outcome.

Assessment Grading: Your final level of assessment for this course will be graded as follows.
HD : High Distinction : 80 – 100
DI : Distinction 70 – 79
CR - Credit : 60 – 69
PA - Pass : 50 – 59
PX - Pass only
NN : Fail - 0 – 49
DNS : Did Not Submit all assignments for assessment.
