Course Description

This unit covers the competency to design and calculate the geometry of both rural and urban roads using relevant Australian road design standards.


Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities

EDX130 – Use mathematics at technician level
EDC040 – Perform measurements and layout tasks on construction sites.
EDC050 – Prepare drawings required in the construction of rural roads.

Assessment of this unit will involve completion of
• Two assignments involving vertical and horizontal alignments of the road centreline (Elements 1,2, and 3)
• Two assignments involving intersection design (Element 4)
