Overview of Assessment

Students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of a particular competency to be deemed competent. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievements of each competency in a flexible manner. Students will complete a portfolio of evidence which includes online discussion, workplace scenarios and a workplace report.

Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met. In addition to the assessments, formative feedback is provided to the students throughout the duration of the course.

Assessment Tasks

Students will complete a Portfolio of evidence online each week covering all elements of competency. Refer to the Portfolio Guide available under Assessments on ’myRMIT Studies’ for this course.

Students will conduct research on occupational health and safety in a real workplace. This research will be documented in a formal report reflecting the students underpinning knowledge of the principles and techniques associated with maintaining a safe workplace, covering all elements of competency. Refer to the Marking Guide available under Assessments on ’myRMIT Studies’ for this course.

Refer to Student Diary for Special Consideration/Extension of Time procedure. If an Extension of Time is granted note that the grade given will be either NYC/CA.
