Course Description
The unit covers design and development of predominantly text-based documents using advanced features of document design software.

Text document structure and layout are designed to suit the purpose, audience and information requirements of the task. Text document is designed to enhance readability and appearance and meet organisational task requirements for style and layout. Stylesheets and automatic functions are used to ensure consistency of design and layout. |

Organisational requirements for text-based business documents are identified to ensure consistency of style and image. Task requirements for the design of text-based business documents are determined to meet organisation purposes. |

Performance Criteria: |
Advanced software functions are used to enable efficient production of text documents. Text and other data are entered or imported, and edited to meet requirement specifications. Text documents are previewed adjusted and printed in accordance with organisational and task requirements. Text documents are named and stored, in accordance with organisation requirements and the application exited without information loss/damage. Text documents are prepared within designated timelines and organisational requirements for speed and accuracy. Manuals, user documentation and on-line help are used to overcome problems with document design and production. |

Workspace, furniture and equipment are adjusted to suit the ergonomic requirements of the user. Work organisation meets organisational and statutory requirements for computer operation. Overview of Assessment
Students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of a particular competency to be deemed competent. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievements of each competency in a flexible manner. Students will complete a portfolio of evidence which includes business documents created throughout the program as well as completing documents in class under test conditions.
Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assement work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met.
In addition to the assessments, formative feedback is provided to the students throughout the duration of the course.
Assessment Tasks
Students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of a particular competency to be deemed competent.
Students will complete a number of portfolio documents individually in class and a final exam in second semester.
