Pre-requisites and Co-requisites
This course will be deilvered concurrently with the following courses;
- GRAP5216C Analyse Fashion Industry Texiles to guide commercial development
- ISYS5658C Apply electronic systems to textile design and production
- GRAP5221C Develop a textile product range
- VART5919C Enhance, manipulate and output photoimages
It is reccomended that candidates ensure that enrolment in each of these courses occurs in the same teaching period.
Course Description
This unit covers the skills and knowledge to plan and manage quality systems and procedures for a Textile product range.This unit applies to managing production in a TCF workplace where judgement is required in planning, technical or supervisory activities related to operations or processes in substantially non-routine situations.

Learning Outcomes
Work with appropriate personnel to manage and produce a production planning report for a textile design Product range.
Details of Learning Activities
This Unit focuses on developing the necessary skills to become a self motivated Textile Designer.
Learning Activities are designed to create a stimulating environment with access to both peer and professional networks to develop the required skills.
Learning is held in on campus design studios to enable the student to gain access to peer support and to take part in discussion based tutorials.
Off campus learning is designed to establish the self directed professional practice skills required of a contemporary textile designer.
Teaching Schedule
Weeks 1 - 2 Introduction to Course Outline & Assessment Tasks. Offcampus research (WIL) completed.
Week 3 Production Planning / identifying the necessary tools and skillsets identified to create an effective and manageable Plan for Production. Reading: Time management for Designers.
Activity: Begin preparing the Production Plan and Timeline. Identify Supervisors and establish meeting dates to be entered into Production Timeline.

Week 4 Photo-documenting the Process / effective Blogs that create interest and diversity in documenting the processes. tools for engaging with your audience. Reading: Writing for Visual Thinkers.
Week 5 Oncampus discussions & peer network meeting / identifying styles / Activity: students to bring examples of photography, blogs, writing styles to consider for their own presentation. examples to be discussed and shared with the group.
Week 6 Mini-deadline: bring an outline Plan (one A4 page) of presentation style considering blog, WIKI, journal, photomontage, PDF presentation

Week 8 Off campus research / Production & Photodocumenting the Production Process
Week 9 Production meeting with Supervisor / Production & Photodocumenting the Production Process

Overview of Assessment
Students will undertake a variety of assessment tasks which wille enable them to do the following
Demonstrate skills and knowledge to:
• interpret and analyse data for production planning
• review production scheduling and performance
• monitor efficiency of production
• resolve production problems
• ensure variations or modifications are implemented appropriately
• ensure workplace health and safety policies are applied in production operations
• maintain accurate records
Document evidence of production planning and development for a Textile design range in a report.
Monitor production processes and implement reccomended improvements.
Liase and present report findings in collaboration with appropriate personnel.
