Course Description

This course requires the application of skills associated with problem solving to identify types and characteristics of textiles (fibres, yarns and fabrics) and to understand textile processing methods. Learning and self management skills are required to apply knowledge of textiles, and communication skills are used to explain and describe information about textile properties. Teaching will cover fibres, yarns and textiles materials commonly used in the construction of garments and accessories and how they are used in textiles production processes.

Overview of Assessment

The student will be required to (1) organise a fabrications folio (2) give a PowerPoint presentation on fabric research and (3) demonstrate knowledge by performing two written assessments in class.
