This unit covers skills and knowledge required to manage their personal professional performance and to take responsibility for their professional development. This unit is delivered in a cluster with the following:

Details of Learning Activities
Students will participate in various learning activities, including: lectures, tutorials, practical demonstrations, class discussions, group/individual work, presentations and site observation.
Teaching schedule for the classes and assessment tasks will be delivered by the teacher in class.
Overview of Assessment
Assessment will be ongoing during the semester, and you will receive feedback on your progress. You will undertake a variety of assessment tasks and activities to assess your level of competence against key elements and performance criteria. The asssessment tasks may include, but not limited to, the following:
- practical demonstrations,
- real or simulated assignments
- written tests/quiz
- action learning exercises
Assessment Task 1: Students (individual or group) will complete a written submission where they respond to a simulated translating or interpreting assignment as per elements above. They will identify and negotiate terms with the agency and create a workplan to prepare for the assignment. They will then write a short reflective report where they discuss professional development needs (This assessment will also assess Elements in LANG 5761C) This task will be used for grading purposes
Assessment Task 2: Students will required to provide evidence (eg, certificates, membership cards, demonstration, invoices) of a professional development activity (eg, attending lectures in relevant domains to improve contextual knowledge, membership of industry association, learning and/or acquiring new technology relevant translation practice, consultation with a practitioner to identify personal and professional development needs, an activity such as a social networking blog etc to promote the profession or professional issues). This task will be used for grading purposes
Assesment Task 3: written test on the content covered during the semester. This task will be also used for grading.

Extension of time for submission of assessable work:
Circumstances may arise which prevent students from completing an assessment task on time. In certain circumstances a student may be entitled to apply for an extension to the due date.
Extensions of 7 calendar days or less:
Students seeking an extension of 7 calendar days or less (from the original due date) must complete and lodge an Application for Extension of Submittable Work (7 Calendar Days or less) form and lodge it with the School.
Extensions of greater than 7 working days:
Students seeking an extension of more than 7 calendar days (from the original due date) must lodge an Application for Special Consideration form under the provisions of the Special Consideration Policy , preferably prior to, but no later than 2 working days after the official due date.
