This course covers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required by public relations personnel to coordinate, develop and implement a crisis management plan to provide an organisation with a planned communications response for use in the event of crisis.

The self-paced activities will be delivered thought various technology platforms and include your contribution to online research activities, quizzes and interactive sessions.
The collaborative classroom based activities will include group discussion, group problem solving activities and opportunities to practice your skills in a simulated/real workplace environment.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment may incorporate a variety of methods including technical requirements documentation, homework, assignments, group and/or individual projects, in class exercises, written and practical assessments, problem solving exercises, presentations, direct observation of actual and simulated work practice, presentation of a portfolio of evidence which may comprise documents, and/or photographs and/or video and audio files, review of products produced through work-based or course activities.
Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met. Students will be provided with feedback throughout the course to check their progress.
You are required to complete 3 assessment tasks.
You must successfully complete all 3 tasks to be deemed competent in this course. Each assessment contributes equal value towards your final grade

Assessment Task 1 – Case Study - Research and Analysis

To demonstrate your ability to review and evaluate crisis communication response. To show that you understand the need to adapt crisis communication for different audiences
This assessment requires students to research and write an analytical report on a recent crisis
Scope:Format: Written report - Word count 1200-1500
This is a research assessment so it is expected that you will use a number of different sources for the information in this report.

Assessment Task 2 –Develop and Implementation of a Crisis Management Plan

Date and time due: Week 12 Sunday 8th May 12pm Midnight. To be submitted on Blackboard
This is a group assessment - Groups of 3 any variance must be pre approved by your teacher.
Purpose:To develop and plan the implementation of a crisis management plan. Including who would input into it and key stakeholder communication. Demonstrating your understanding of organisational communication, tools and techniques.
This assessment requires groups to research and develop and implement a crisis communication plan.
Format: This a professional Report and should include relevant formatting including:
• Title Page
• Table of contents
• Appropriate referencing throughout text
Length: Approx 3000 words (There are 3 parts to this assessment)It is expected that extensive research will be carried out on the incident, the industry and the organisation.
Assessment 3 In class test
A 1 hour test with short answer questions will be conducted in Week 15 in class.
This will be based on activities and quizzes conducted in class.

Late Submission Procedures
You are required to submit assessment items and/or ensure performance based assessment is completed by the due dates.
If you are prevented from submitting an assessment item on time, by circumstances outside your control, you may apply in advance to your teacher for an extension to the due date of up to seven calendar days.

Resubmissions (VET Programs):
If you are found to be unsuccessful in a Course Assessment Task you will be allowed one resubmission only. Your teacher will provide feedback regarding what you need to do to improve and will set a new deadline for the resubmission.
