Structures and planning

The Research Office provides services relating to the support of research structures and business and strategic planning including: coordinating reviews of research structures; coordinating research strategic and business planning and coordinating strategic recruitment initiatives.

8.1. Manage the formal review of Research Centres and Groups

  • Provide advice on all matters relating to the Research Structures Policy
  • Develop and communicate the annual schedule for the formal review of research structures
  • Communicate the review process to key stakeholders
  • Liaise with and support panel members.

8.2. Coordinate publishing of webpage(s) for approved research structures

  • Work with School and College web publishers to upload web content for approved structures.

8.3. Coordinate responses to research related Government submissions

  • Review discussion and consultation papers released by Government
  • Consult with key stakeholders as required, draft response/submission and submit to DVC R&I for approval.

8.4. Coordinate research planning & performance cycle

  • Confirm arrangements for the Planning Cycle with DVC R&I, following endorsement from DVC R&I Executive Committee
  • Prepare and distribute key materials including agendas, research performance data, workshop notes etc
  • Arrange “Research Planning Workshops” as required
  • Collate final, agreed research performance targets (University, College and School level)
  • Prepare report on outcomes of the Research Planning and Performance Cycle to VCE, Research Committee, DVC R&I Executive, Planning & Resources Committee etc.

8.5. Coordinate research-related University Business Plan projects

  • Work with DVC R&I to identify future projects
  • Develop project proposals
  • Prepare project plans and communication strategies for specific Business Plan Projects
  • Manage reporting on Business Plan Projects.

8.6. Manage process for selection of VC Research Fellowships

  • Coordinate and communicate recruitment and selection process
  • Work with HR to implement recruitment, selection and appointment process
  • Coordinate communication and profiling of successful candidates
  • Prepare and submit report annual report to DVC R&I.

8.7. Manage other strategic recruitment initiatives

  • Coordinate and communicate recruitment and selection process
  • Work with HR to implement recruitment, selection and appointment process
