An app that gets you half-price food!

Launched recently, the Yume app helps you find cheap food around Melbourne while minimising waste.

Yume is all about making the food go around. It does so by utilising mobile technology to connect food outlets with surplus or unsold food with hungry Yume members via a free app. When one of your favourite food outlets finds themselves with too much of something – a dish, a piece of fruit or a baguette – they pop it on Yume for you to snap up.

All food offers are listed at 50% off the regular price and while you enjoy a great meal or snack you can also feel proud that you are stopping perfectly good food from going to waste.

The Yume app is two-fold. One – you get to eat from places near you for half of what it normally costs. Two – business avoid food from going to waste. Each year in Australia the food industry throws away approximately 1.4 million tonnes of perfectly good food and produce.

With some of food industry heavyweights signed-up, such as Guy Grossi (Grossi Florentino), Matt Wilkinson (Pope Joan/Hams&Bacon/SpudBar) and Jesse Gerner (Green Park), you can expect a decent treat!

If you appreciate good food at the best price, download the Yume app.
