Instances where privacy is relevant to Work Integrated Learning (WIL) include:
- staff handling student data, especially information about health, disabilities and police checks
- staff handling employer contact details
- students handling partner information such as personal patient data at hospitals, client lists at counselling services, etc.
- students identifying individuals e.g. hospital patients during WIL assessment presentations to academics or over social media.
RMIT is committed to the responsible handling of personal information and to protecting the right to privacy of those whose information it holds as per the Information Privacy Act 2000 (Vic.) and, where relevant, the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic.)
