Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability (ACTS)

RMIT University is a member of the Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability (ACTS). ACTS is the primary forum for sustainability in the Australian and New Zealand tertiary sectors.

ACTS aims to inspire, promote and support change towards best practice sustainability within the operations, curriculum and research of the Australasian tertiary education sector.

RMIT staff can register for free to access resources, developmental tools and networking opportunities by simply registering their RMIT email address on the ACTS website.

1200 Buildings

RMIT University participates in the City of Melbourne's 1200 Buildings Program which aims to reduce energy, water and carbon emissions through the retrofit of commercial buildings.


Green Star – Communities

RMIT partnered with the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) to the pilot of the Green Star – Communities rating, a voluntary tool which provides best practice benchmarks and third-party verification of the sustainability of precinct-wide developments. RMIT will be piloting the rating tool on the City Campus to drive sustainability outcomes through best practice sustainable infrastructure planning.


Tertiary Education Facilities Management Association Inc (TEFMA)

RMIT is a member of TEFMA, the pre-eminent organisation for the promotion and support of excellence in the management and development of the facilities portfolio in the Australasian tertiary education sector. Each year the University’s participates in the TEFMA sustainability performance benchmarking study to track performance against the sector.


Sustainability Victoria Take 2 Campaign

RMIT has committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in alignment with Sustainability Victoria’s Take2 campaign. The campaign records current and future actions government, industry and the community will be taking to reduce emissions. This assists Sustainability Victoria with monitoring their progress towards the 2050 zero greenhouse gas emissions reduction target. RMIT’s pledge details actions we have / are undertaking to address greenhouse gas emissions and take action on climate change.
