New ITS Leadership Team to align technology with new era for RMIT

RMIT University’s Information Technology Services (ITS) has confirmed the appointment of six IT Executives to its Leadership Team.

The new Executive Leadership Team provides global experience in ICT strategy, governance and security plus the design and implementation of global delivery models and technologies that enhance the digital customer experience.

The ITS Executive Leadership Team will be fully in place on November 16 and will steer the roll out of the ICT 2020 plan and digital strategy, which underpin the University’s Ready for Life and Work strategy.

Ready for Life and Work recognises that global boundaries to education and research are dissolving and the unprecedented movement of people into cities and across countries. The University sees the future as one where there will be increased need for solutions to global problems and for people to be able to understand and work with complex knowledge and technologies.

The ITS appointments come four months after CIO Paul Oppenheimer announced a three-year transformation program, followed by a robust recruitment process for the Leadership Team. The transformation program commenced with a move to a matrix management structure in September.

The new structure reshapes ITS from its traditional IT shop structure to focusing on value streams.

The Leadership Team appointments are:

- Michelle Rennie – Director Technology – Learning, Teaching and Research

- Michael Bobele – Director Technology – Student Lifecycle

- Sinan Erbay – Director, Technology – University Operations

- David Preiss – Chief Technology Officer

- Tony Aramze – Chief Information Security Officer

- Max Kennedy – Director, Office of the Chief Information Office
