Aashima Gupta, Exchange from University of Maryland, USA
Aashima knew that RMIT was going to be the perfect fit for her, ‘a student who strives to reach out of her comfort zone.’
“RMIT makes the adjustment period simple and enjoyable: something that all international students want.”
Home Institution: University of Maryland
Home Degree/ Program: Supply Chain Management and Finance
Global Program: Exchange, Semester 2 2014
Aashima wanted to go to a multicultural school just like her home university, University of Maryland, and heard that RMIT had a very diverse student body. Having never lived in a major city before, the idea of studying right in the centre of Melbourne was exciting for her. Although seeing differences between RMIT and her home uni, she also feels at home at RMIT, with architecturally beautiful buildings, devoted and passionate professors, and the number of other international students. Aashima has made the most of Trips and Tours at RMIT, exploring all Victoria has to offer. Due to Melbourne’s close location to Asia, she also went on a trip to Bali.
Aashima feels like RMIT places a major emphasis on making international students feel at home. She joined the RMIT Mates program, which pairs international students with a mentor who is also a student at RMIT, and really enjoyed and appreciated the activities organised through this program.
