Welcome to Melbourne, Sarah!
Sarah turns her dream to venture into Australia a reality.
New student Sarah Lahouegue arrives in Melbourne with a heightened passion in media and a burning curiosity to explore her new home.
Hailing all the way from Scotland, Sarah has always dreamt to venture into Australia. “I have always been drawn to visit such a lovely and down-to-earth place,” she says.
She did her homework before leaving Scotland – asking friends and colleagues about the Australian lifestyle, buying travel books to find the best places to visit and doing a vast amount of online research. She also said goodbye to Radio Caley, her beloved radio team at university.
As a student of media and communications, Sarah has had some knowledge and experience in various areas including video production, feature writing, dramatic screenwriting and radio production – one of her favourites. She is glad that her journey does not stop as there is no shortage of courses she can choose from at RMIT.
“RMIT is my first choice because the courses here are so vast and different. Choosing my top three was hard work,” she says. Sarah eventually manages to set her heart on Advertising, Writing Media Texts and Journalism Ethics. “My ideal career would involve writing a column in a magazine or working for a radio station.”
Apart from recording videos for her Youtube channel Sarah Weshy and writing for her blog Weshy Kala, Sarah cannot wait to learn more about the Australian culture. “I want to create new memories as an international student in a new environment”.
“I also want to meet new people from all over the world – those with shared interests and those with different viewpoints. I want to travel together and see all the amazing attractions Australia has to offer. My time here is limited and must therefore be well spent doing amazing things,” she says.
There are many ways to get involved at RMIT. Choose the one that picks your fancy at Get involved.
