Mr Steven Pereira

Chief Information Officer, GS1 Australia

Steven Pereira, Chief Information Officer, has been with GS1 Australia since August 1996.

GS1 Australia is a not-for-profit standards organisation that locally administers the global multi-industry system of identification and communication for products, services, assets and locations - the GS1 System.

Steven has held a number of high-level managerial positions within the organisation. His current responsibilities involve Business Systems, Standards & Emerging Technologies, Project Management Office and Education Relationships

Prior to joining GS1 Australia, Steven occupied various positions with Australia's largest retailer, Coles Myer Ltd for 17 years. During this time, he was involved in distribution centre operations, logistics, distribution systems development, EDI implementation and finance / administration.

Steven sits on a number of tertiary institutions’ industry advisory committees, including at Deakin University, RMIT University and Chisholm TAFE, and has contributed to course development at University of Melbourne. He has been involved in a number of research projects and has contributed to published research papers. He also chairs the SCM Futures Forum comprising of academics and industry executives, and has spoken at various international conferences. Steven is also involved at a global level in the GS1 standards development process.

Steven has a Commerce Degree from the University of Western Australia and is a member of Australian Institute of Management and an Associate of CPA Australia.

Ms Amanda Gome

CEO, Smart Company, Adjunct Professor RMIT University

Amanda Gome is the CEO of online publishing company, Private Media, which owns and Crikey.

She is also the founder and publisher of, Australia’s number one news and resources publication for entrepreneurs. Previously Amanda was an editor and senior writer at BRW magazine, where her passion and interest in entrepreneurship led her to founding and editing two flagships, the BRW Fast 100 and Fast Starters, as well as the Emerging Companies section.

Amanda is also an adjunct professor of business at RMIT University, lectures students in entrepreneurship and regularly comments to the media on business.
