Study rooms

Study and viewing rooms are available at each Library site. You can book them for group projects, discussions, presentations and viewing.

Bookings

Rooms can be reserved using BookIt online booking system for a maximum of two hours per day, unless otherwise specified. There are no block or weekly bookings.

When using our rooms, please…

  • Leave the room clean and tidy
  • If there is an emergency or emergency drill, you must leave the room immediately.
  • Take all your belongings when you finish and don’t leave anything unattended. We will not be responsible if your personal items go missing.

Brunswick Library rooms

Group study rooms (1 and 2)

  • Discussion room 1 with a PC and video player; Seating: 2
  • Discussion room 2 with a PC, DVD and video players, and a whiteboard; Seating: 6

Seminar room

  • Seating: 20
  • Data projector with screen and PC (laptop connector available for both Mac and PC)
  • DVD and video players

Group study rooms (1 and 2)

  • Seating: 6-8
  • PC and whiteboard

Bundoora Library rooms

Group study rooms (1-3), level 1

  • Room 1 and 2, both with a PC, large screen and a whiteboard; Seating: 8
  • Room 3 with whiteboard; Seating: 12

Group study room, level 2

Room 1 with a PC, DVD and video players, and a whiteboard; Seating: 6

Group study rooms (1-7), level 3

Rooms 1-7, all with a PC, large screen, and a whiteboard; Seating: 8

Silent study rooms (1 and 2), level 3

  • Small silent study room, with 3 carrels (bookings not needed)
  • Large silent study room with 16 bookable PCs and 14 study carrels

Postgraduate room, level 3

  • This room is available to Honours, Masters and Doctoral students.
  • Seating: 8
  • Two PCs
  • Bookings not needed. Pick up the key from the service desk, level 2. Return the key at least ten minutes before the closing time. If you lose the key, we will charge you a replacement cost and administrative fee.

Carlton Library rooms

Group study rooms (1 and 2)

  • Seating: 6
  • PC, large screen (with laptop connector) and a whiteboard
  • Two hours per day maximum booking time
  • No block or weekly bookings.

Seminar room

  • Theatre seating or tables
  • Seating: 25-30 people
  • Video and data display with a PC and a document camera
  • Overhead projector
  • The room can be divided using an in-built partition
  • Three hours per day maximum booking time

Training room and PC lab

  • 20 PCs
  • Data projector with a PC
  • DVD player with surround sound
  • Overhead projector
  • Mobile AV trolley with DVD and video players, and a monitor
  • Students can use this room when it is not booked for classes.
  • Four weeks before exams, this room will be open to all students between 10 am and 2 pm, no bookings required.

Swanston Library rooms

Swanston Library has many meeting and project rooms for group study.

BookIt lists all the available meeting and project rooms on both Levels 5 and 6.

Note: A small number of rooms are reserved during the day and then made available after 6 pm.

RMIT staff please note that the Library rooms are not available as general teaching or meeting spaces. Property Services offers rooms you can book for these purposes.
