Teaching & Work responsibilities

Semester I - Vincent co-ordinates and lectures in Mass Media in Australia COMM 1059; and lectures and tutors in Persuasion & Propaganda, COMM 1083.

Semester II - Tutor in Media Law and Regulation COMM 1060, as well as administration and course development duties in Professional Communication.

Industry experience

Vincent O'Donnell came to RMIT with thirty years experience in the media. He began film making while a student at the University of Sydney, and has worked as a cameraman, editor and film director, directed studio and outside broadcast television, and worked in news and current affairs, including stints in UK and in Africa.

He also managed the Experimental Film Fund for the Australia Council, and was Executive Producer at Film Victoria, where film produced under his supervision won some thirty national and international awards.

Vincent has an MA in Communications Studies, a near completed Ph. D. and Australian and US commercial pilot's licences. He is the Executive Producer of the weekly arts and culture current affairs radio program, Arts Alive, and has been commissioned to write a book on the history of the South Australian Film Corporation.

Research interests

-Australian media industries, especially cinema production: history, economics and politics.

-Cultural policy, national and international: history, economics and politics.

-Trade related aspects of cultural exchanges and the World Trade Organisation.

-John Maynard Keynes and H. C. Coombs.

-Arts and cultural transformations in Asia, especially Singapore.
