Give gridiron a go

Women gridiron members

American football for men and women now at RMIT.

RMIT Link Sport & Recreation have added American Football, or gridiron, to the list of sport clubs you can join.

The Northern Raiders are based in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. As a newly affiliated club with RMIT Sport & Recreation, the club offers discounted membership to RMIT students.

Would you like to give gridiron a go? The club is now training for the preseason and very keen to see some new faces at the weekly training sessions.

There are men’s, women’s and junior teams.

Since 2011 The Raiders have grown steadily on and off field. In 2011 The Raiders took out the inaugural Division 2 Championship in their very first season and have made the playoffs every year after.

The Raiders have now moved up into Division 1 for 2014. In 2012 they added to that by developing a junior program and in 2013, a women’s program.

In 2014 the Raiders plan to have both Division 1 and Division 2 senior men’s teams, as well as several flag football teams.
