Inclusive teaching: Strategies using social media

The massification of education presents both many challenges and opportunities for the university community and Australian society more generally.

Whilst it offers a chance to democratise knowledge and promote a more sophisticated understanding of the challenges that confront the contemporary world, it also challenges the academic community to respond to students from a multiplicity of backgrounds, varying levels of 'cultural' capital and those who have multiple commitments.

In this workshop, Professor James Arvanitakis outlines how innovative pedagogical approaches, such as those using social media, can include those most likely to be excluded while encouraging already advanced students to thrive.
