Annual works (minor works) are projects requested by stakeholders that are valued between $5,000 and less than $1 million. Annual works incorporate maintenance work – for both the Higher Education and Vocational Education sectors, project feasibility studies, teaching space upgrades and sustainability projects.
As part of the budget process, Property Services seeks annual works submissions from Portfolios and Colleges. Annual Works submissions must be submitted via the Project Request System.
Virtual Interoperation Lab, Building 91, Level 1
The project involved installation of the AICAUSE VITELAB / GOVLAB (Virtual Interoperation Test Lab), which is a state of the art virtualisation and visualisation facility. It will be used to showcase RMIT’s research capabilities, and learning and teaching activities to internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on global software development. The New Academic Street project will transform the heart of the RMIT City campus creating laneways, gardens, new student spaces and better library facilities.
Ceramics Laboratory, Building 2
This project included renovations, installations and equipment upgrades for the creation of a new Ceramics Laboratory in Building 2. By providing upgrades to the teaching space and the technical equipment, this project will contribute to the high quality of the student experience at RMIT.
Computer Laboratory Upgrade, Building 94, Levels 4 and 6
This project delivered the refurbishment and upgrade to the existing computer laboratories and ancillary spaces in Building 94. The upgrade also created six new teaching spaces, accomodating for class sizes between 20-40 students. The works will contribute to an improved collaborative environment, and provide high quality facilities to address the student experience.
Aircraft Hanger Relocation and Storage, Building 252
The CT4 aircraft was previously used for practical teaching purposes, however, it was underutilised at its previous location. The School of Engineering requested that it be relocated to Bundoora East Campus. The School now has the ability to utilise this space to enhance the student experience, by conducting class demonstration and practical learning.
