Media policy

RMIT University actively encourages our teaching and research staff and postgraduate researchers to participate in public debate and share their expertise with media on topics of interest to the community.

The Vice-Chancellor is the principal spokesperson for RMIT University policy or corporate matters and will delegate this responsibility where appropriate.

Academics and postgraduate researchers of the university are free to speak directly to media on matters in their area of expertise. They may also contact the media or respond to requests.

Media representatives are permitted access to all RMIT University campuses. Please notify the RMIT University Communications Unit before the visit as early as possible.

Staff in the RMIT University Communications Unit receive requests from journalists and other media professionals seeking expert comment regularly, and respond to requests as quickly as possible.
