About Research Strategy, Planning and Reporting

The Strategy, Planning and Reporting team coordinates the development of short and long term research planning and supports the delivery of RMIT University’s strategic research priorities. It also manages research systems and internal and external reporting and coordinates responses to Government and University policy related to research activities.


  • Work with Colleges, Schools and Research Institutes to set, communicate, monitor and report on corporate targets related to research
  • Provide input into the development and implementation of research policies and procedures
  • Conduct benchmarking of research activity and support the development of international key performance indicators for research
  • Report on University research output to external agencies, including relevant Federal Government Departments, the Australian Bureau of Statistics; the Australian Technology Network (ATN) and the Australian Universities Quality Agency/Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA)
  • Coordinate RMIT submissions on research related policy and issues that impact the tertiary sector and the global research community
  • Coordinate the implementation of Government initiatives related to research, such as Sustainable Research Engagement (SRE) and Excellence in Innovation for Australia (EIA) initiatives
  • Coordinate the development, implementation and monitoring of research related initiatives identified in the RMIT Business Plan
  • Implement projects relating to staffing initiatives to build research capacity and culture at RMIT such as VC’s Research Fellowships
