Key activities

Nicola is a research consultant in the sustainable built environment group at the Centre for Design. She is an internationally experienced and resourceful architect and energy consultant with a strong interest in sustainable design. She has practical experience in projects ranging from sustainable development aid to energy efficient building design incorporating the use of ecologically sound and healthy materials.

Nicola has been leading the development of the Centre for Design’s annual Green Building & Design conference since 2008 and has been teaching in the associated RMIT course “Sustainability in the built environment: A Focus on building and design”.

Nicola’s research interest lies in the areas of evidence-based design and the correlation of health and the built environment.

  • Accreditation by BAFA (Bundesamt fuer Ausfuhr und Wirtschaftkontrolle, Germany) as an Energy Consultant September 2006

  • Accreditation by the South African Council for the Architectural Profession, Gauteng. 1994-2004
