  • Title: Consulate General of Italy (Melbourne) Visit
  • Date: 28 January 2016
  • Delegate: Dr Marco Cerbo, Consul General of Italy
  • Purpose: Acknowledge the benefits of positive bilateral relations between Australia and Italy, create institutional contacts for future collaboration and show support for RMIT’s Co-tutelle Joint PhD Agreement with Politecnico di Torino.

  • Support for co-supervision of doctoral candidates
  • RMIT’s School of Graduate Research is expecting two candidates to enroll through the agreements in early 2016

The Netherlands

  • Title: University of Twente (UT)
  • Date: 23 October 2015

  • Key RMIT Stakeholders: SEH, DSC
  • Purpose: Explore further opportunities in relation to our current collaborations, which include a student exchange and a joint PhD program.


  • Signing of institutional agreement facilitating Erasmus+ scholarships.
  • Support for staff sabbaticals from the College of Science, Engineering and Health to UT.
  • Support of staff travel from the College of Design and Social Context to UT.

United Kingdom

  • Title: UK Leadership Group
  • Date: 16 February 2016
  • Key Delegates: Senior Leaders from Kingston University, Conventry University, University of Exeter. University of Sussex, University of Dundee, University of Bolton, University of Sheffield, University of Putra Malaysia and LUISS – University of Rome, Italy
  • Key RMIT Stakeholders: International Partnerships and Development, Office of the Dean, Learning and Teaching
  • Purpose: A dialogue with Higher Education leaders from the UK, Italy and Malaysia on the theme of ‘Global Engagement: Global Challenges’.

Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA)


  • Title: Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan
  • Date: 24 November 2015
  • Delegate: Ms Shaza Fatima Khawaja, MP
  • Key RMIT Stakeholders: Engagement and Vocational Education, International Recruitment and Mobility
  • Purpose: Consultation on the integration between Vocational Education and Higher Education.

North Asia

Outcomes: Signing of student mobility agreement (4 students per year)

  • Purpose: Discuss possible collaboration in Food Science, Information Technology, Logistics, Finance and Accounting programs.

  • Date: 21st September 2015

  • Purpose: Explore educational linkages between Yunnan Province and the State of Victoria

Southeast Asia & the Pacific (SEAPAC)


  • Title: Ministry of Rural and Regional Development and MARA Malaysia
  • Date: 8 December 2015
  • Delegate: Deputy Chief Secretary, Ministry of Rural and Regional Development Malaysia & Director of MARA-Australia
  • Purpose: Courtesy visit to discuss opportunities for further scholarship development


Discussed opportunities for internships and work experience for MARA students post graduation, possible RMIT scholarships for MARA students and Mobility options for RMIT students to study short term in Malaysia.


  • Title: Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)
  • Date: 24 November 2015
  • Delegate: Dr Maria Anityasari – Head of International Office, Mr Muh. Wuhayu Islami – Public Relations & Short Programs Manager
  • Purpose: Interationalisation priorities, student mobility, Endeavour Fellowship initiatives, International student recruitment


Discussion on possible collaboration in student mobility, capacity building in vocational education, Articulation for Joint Masters (1+1 program), staff training and access to LPDP Scholarships for PhD candidates.

The Americas


  • Title: His Excellency Mr Jose Manuel Galego Montano, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Australia, Republic of Cuba
  • Date: 23 July 2015
  • Delegate: His Excellency Mr Jose Manuel Galego Montano, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Australia, Republic of Cuba
  • Purpose: Courtesy visit to discuss collaborative research opportunities in public art as well as media and communication between RMIT and the Republic of Cuba.


Relationship building to strengthen the School of Art’s activity with the University of the Arts, Cuba (ISA) and the Wilfredo Lam Centre.
