Key activities

Michael Graeve is a visual and sound artist. He exhibits, performs and teaches internationally.

His works are held in collections in Australia, Europe and the USA.

Awards and residencies include Tonspur 19 in Vienna, Australia Council residency at International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) New York and Samstag International Travelling Scholarship to Chicago.

He has held over 15 solo exhibitions in Australia and USA. Group exhibitions and collaborations include dialog I with Christoph Dahlhausen (raum 2810, Bonn), Sonambiente Berlin 2006, Your Sky (Gigantic Art Space, New York), 2004 Australian Culture Now (Ian Potter Centre: NGV, Melbourne) and Primavera (Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney).

His work has been reviewed by Branden W. Joseph (Artforum International), Nicholas Chambers (Eyeline), Ros Bandt (Sound Sculpture) and Stephen O'Connell (Art/Text).

He has been involved in artist-run galleries as founding committee member of Grey Area Art Space Inc (1996-1999), and Program Manager at West Space Inc (2002-2004).
